Karen D. Fry, age 72 of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Born October 20, 1944 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Ernest E. and Helen May (Terwilliger) Johnson, and beloved wife of Robert W. Fry for 51 years. Karen was an active lifelong member of the McKeesport Alliance Church, where she dedicated her time serving as a Deaconess. After raising her children, she went on to work in the human resource department at Auberle, having retired after more than 10 years. Her true joy in life, however, was spending time with her grandchildren. She was always willing and eager to fill in as "the babysitter" when called upon. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Christopher W. (Karen M.) Fry of Monroeville and Marie Elena (Jeffrey) Matta of McLean, VA; grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Naomi, Esther, Deborah and Joshua Fry, and Jacob Matta; siblings, Lucille H. (Raymond) Stombaugh of Portage, PA and Phillip (Mary) Johnson of McKeesport; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Joel, and her brother, Kenneth Johnson. James A. "Jim" Buck, age 75 of Greenock, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his home. Born July 8, 1941 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Andrew John and Ethel P. (Kovach) Buck. Jim was a 1964 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Upon graduation, he dedicated his career to the steel manufacturing industry, working as a metallurgical engineer for many of the local and national steel companies, including US Steel Corporation and Jones & Laughlin Steel Company.

Matthew D. Suckfiel, age 42 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at his home. Born October 23, 1974 in McKeesport, he was the beloved son of Ronald Suckfiel and Cindi Patterson. Matthew was a 1993 graduate of McKeesport Area High School, and later went on to study at the University of Pittsburgh as well as Penn State Greater Allegheny. Matthew was a self-employed construction worker and was often referred to as an all around handyman. He was always there to give family and friends a helping hand when needed. He was truly a Jack of all trades. In his free time he enjoyed following soccer, and he loved his doggie buddies, Frank and Cross-Patch. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James M. and Dorothy Suckfiel, William and Lillian Patterson; and uncles, James M. Suckfiel, Jr. and William Suckfiel. Joseph J. Spinosi, age 83, of White Oak, died December 18, 2016, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born December 15, 1933, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Julius and Rose (Borrelli) Spinosi and the husband of the late Bernadine Bernice "Dolly" Spinosi, for over 59 loving years. Joseph was retired from the J.C. Penney Corporation. He was a member of the St. Patrick Parish. He enjoyed playing bocce and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Joseph loved visiting his family in California and as of late, he truly looked forward to his monthly luncheon with his friends. Joseph is survived by children, Rose Ann (Corky) Stevens of White Oak, Perry (Tammy) Spinosi of Moon, PA, Joel (Rose) Spinosi of Coto de Caza, CA and Jason (Heidi) Spinosi of Washington, PA; grandchildren, Nicole, Brad (Jennifer), Dante, Julian, Roman, GianCarlo, Gianna, Matteo, Piera and Tianti; great granddaughter, Madison; brother, Phil "Spush" Spinosi of White Oak; sister, Mary Smith of CA; many nieces and nephews.

Verna M. Flohr, age 76, of McKeesport, died December 12, 2016, at Riverside Care Center with her family at her side. Born September 9, 1940, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Corrine (Lees) Hall and the wife of the late John R. "Dusty" Flohr. Verna retired from the G.C. Murphy Company Sign Shop, where she worked as a graphic artist for nearly 30 years. She then worked at the Jefferson Hospital Cafeteria and she was an in home care giver for many years. Verna was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shuffle board, bingo and she had a passion for traveling and shopping. She is survived by children, Deborah (Daniel) Hurley of White Oak, Elizabeth Sostaric of mcKeesport, Tammy Duran of McKeesport, Dale Flohr of Pittsburgh and Gregg Flohr of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Scott (Jackie) Hurley, Christopher Hurley, Jason Sostaric, Christine Sostaric, Mindy Duran, Rachel Duran, Chad (Maddie) Duran, Megan Flohr, Shannon Flohr, Mallory Flohr, Tabitha (Shane) Cook, Gregg Flohr and Jessica Flohr; great grandchildren, Darryl, Caden, Tristen; great aunt, Gertrude Curry; sister-in-law, Stella Hall; daughter-in-law, Jareen Flohr; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends; and her beloved pet dog "Honey." Joan Krejdovsky, age 76 of White Oak, passed away on December 15, 2016. Born August 16, 1940 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Perhach, and loving wife of the late Daniel Krejdovsky.  Joan graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing and also belonged to their Alumni Association.  She began her career as a Registered Nurse in 1962, and up until recently, was still dedicated to helping others by working in the Quality Control Department at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  While she had passion for work, family was what brought her the most joy.  Their interests were her interests and spending time with them is what made her the happiest.  She is survived by her children, Matthew (Regina) Krejdovsky, Meg Pero, David (Karen) Krejdovsky, and Dan (Janette) Krejdovsky; grandchildren, Zachary (Colleen), Brittney (Shawn) Krznaric, Samantha, Nicole, Emma, Laney, and Daniel; great-grandson, Tristan; brothers, James (Judy) Lawrence and David (Annmarie) Perhach and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at St. Angela Merici Church at 11 a.m.  Fr. Charles "Chaz" Plesniak, age 54 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at his home. Born June 17, 1962, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Walter and Ruth (Williams) Plesniak. Chaz most recently worked at Simonnetta Collision & Car Care Center, prior to that he worked at Magic Creations, in McKeesport. He enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports and he was a huge Elvis fan. He is survived by siblings Betty (Ernie) Titmus of OH, Walter (Nancy) of Linesville, Rose Marie (Randy) Johnson of Idaho, Paul, Don, Mary Ann (Donald) Lust all of McKeesport, Joseph (Debbie) of White Oak and Steve (Sue) of North Versailles; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Chaz, was also preceded in death by a brother, Dan. Robert "Bob" Thorpe, age 74 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his home. Born May 15, 1942 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Chester and Virginia (Olsen) Thorpe, and loving husband of the late Ruthann (Yencho) Thorpe. Bob was a graduate of Penn State University earning his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Following his graduation, he went on to start his career as an engineer with Duquesne Light Company, contributing more than 30 years of dedicated service.  He was a long-time member of the Penns Woods United Methodist Church, and was also a Shriner, Mason, Moose, and member of the Jacktown Ride and Hunt Club. In his free time, Bob enjoyed working with his hands and putting his engineering skills to use. His artistic talents were evident thru his beautiful stained glass work and all of his wood working abilities. He was often referred to as the family handy-man, graciously helping his family with various home remodeling projects that his son-in-law, Frank would get him into. Spending time with his two grandsons teaching them to grow vegetable gardens and sharing his knowledge about the multitude of tools in his busy workshop were some of his favorite pastimes. He is survived by his children, Robert (Regina) Thorpe of State College and Terri (Frank) Maglicco of Level Green; grandsons, Joshua and Justin Maglicco; sister, Norma (Tom) Hartwick of Texas; and his beloved cat Coco. Lois Marie Akerberg, age 95 of White Oak, passed away November 22, 2016 at Riverside Care Center. Born January 21, 1921 in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Florence (Wallace) Nelson, and loving wife of the late Ralph Carl Akerberg.  Lois was a graduate of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for McKeesport Hospital, and also for various hospitals in New England while her husband served in the military. She was a longtime member of the First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport, where she was involved in many church groups, enjoyed singing in the choir, and was a Sunday school teacher for several years. Along with being active within the church, she enjoyed spending her free time reading and tending to her home. She is survived by children, Sheryle (the late William) Guy of McKeesport, Denise (Bennett) Berarducci of Bradenton, FL, and Janell (Kenneth) Anderson of Greensburg; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jason) Bortz, Rebecca (Andre) Rothfuss, Melissa (Joseph) Bosetti, Jennifer Chapman, Dr. Amber (Benjamin) Stephens, and Dr. Crystal Berarducci; great-grandchildren, Ava Bosetti, Mia Bosetti, Maya Rothfuss, Tucker Stephens, Olivia Bortz, and Elena Rothfuss; siblings, Norma Nelson of Grays Lake, IL and Wayne (Gerry) Nelson of Elizabeth Twp., and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn Nelson. Charles R. Barnes, age 72, of McKeesport, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2016.  Charles, the son of Charles and Carolyn Davis Barnes, was born in McKeesport on March 12, 1944. Charles was a 1962 graduate of McKeesport Area High School.  He served four years in the United States Air Force, and was an active member of the White Oak American Legion Post 701.  He was retired from R&R Vending Co.  When he was not repairing a jukebox or a video game, he could be found on the golf course, which was one of his favorite pastimes.  He also enjoyed baking the area's best cheesecakes and desserts.   He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Douglas Barnes and sons, Darren (Angie) and Danny (Andrea).  He is also survived by his sisters, Carol Ann DeLullo of Virginia, Patricia Deak of Versailles Borough, Linda Barnes of McKeesport, and many nieces and nephews. John A. "Bud" Menzie

John A.  "Bud" Menzie, age 94 of North Versailles, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Beacon Ridge in Indiana, PA. Born March 16, 1922 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John B. and LaDean (Knight) Menzie, and loving husband of the late Thelma (Lytle) Menzie. Following high school, John began working as an electrician for National Tube Works until he joined the US Army, having honorably served during WWII as a paratrooper. He later went on to work for his father's dairy business, Menzie Dairy Co. in McKeesport, having retired after many years of dedicated service. Bud attended the McKeesport Alliance Church where he enjoyed being a member of the Keenagers and the church choir. He also devoted his free time volunteering for the church food bank for many years. Some of his favorite times where spent in his trailer going on road trips across the states and spending time in the woods camping. He was affectionately referred to as the "neighborhood handy-man", getting frequent calls to fix friends electrical work and lamps, or as he would say, "tinker" with them. Bud will be missed for his jokester personality, and always knowing how to put you in a good mood. John is survived by his grandson, Stephen John (Maria) Lowman of Indiana, PA; great-grandsons, Micah and Jonah Lowman; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Lowman; son, Ronald Menzie; and siblings, Lois Menzie, Ruth Gross, William Menzie and Glenn Menzie. Edward Ratesic, age 83 of McKeesport, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Concordia of Monroeville. Born January 17, 1933 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Valent and Mary (Lakovic) Ratesic and loving husband of Margaret Marie (Walker) Ratesic for 61 years. Following high school, Edward began working for US Steel National Tube Works as a millwright. He later served as the financial secretary and retired from US Steel as the Vice President of the National Tube Local Union 1408 after more than 35 years of service. In his free time, he was active in numerous clubs and organizations, including the 11th Ward Club in Christy Park where he enjoyed playing cards with his fellow members. He also devoted his time as a baseball coach for the McKeesport Pony League, and was an avid bowler, belonging to many leagues over the years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Edward R. (Cynthia) Ratesic of South Park, Daniel (Laurie) Ratesic of Monroeville and Wayne M. (Katie) Ratesic of Plum Boro.; grandchildren, Brittany Ratesic, Kelsey (Ben) Wardrop, Lindsay Ratesic, Abigail (Christopher) Thompson, Jamie Ratesic and Mallory Ratesic; great-grandson, C.J. (Barnes) Cochran. Wade was a Penn State University graduate, earning his Bachelor of Science in Engineering. He went on to be employed with various engineering companies, including Raytheon, an international aerospace and defense company, where he proudly worked on the Patriot Missile. In his later years, he worked as an electrical engineer with Union Switch & Signal. He was a long-time member of the First Evangelical Free Church of McKeesport. Wade was an avid Penn State Nittany Lions fan and enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports teams. His greatest passion was photography, mainly capturing remarkable photos of birds and all aspects of nature’s beauty. Wade is survived by his sister, Janet (Michael) Bush of New Hartford, CT; nieces and nephews, Charlotte (Steven), Richard and Courtney (Matthew); aunts, Arlene (Tom) Barnes of McKeesport, Ann (David) Barnes of Homer, NY, Joan (the late Wayne) Cochran of McKeesport and Doris (the late Robert) Barnes of West Mifflin; many loving cousins and friends.
