Dorothy Ruth (White) Cartwright, 92 years old, passed away on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, PA. She was born June 25, 1929 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Dr. Howard E. White and Ruth (Gloss) White. She was a 1947 graduate of McKeesport High School. She graduated from Robert Morris Business College in 1948 before graduating from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She moved to White Oak in 1992 and retired from McKeesport Hospital as an RN in 1994. In 2015 she moved to Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon. She was a lifelong member of Beulah Park Methodist Church and also attended First Evangelical Free Church. Dorothy never retired from taking care of people. Even after her retirement from the hospital, she continued to care for those around her - neighbors, family and friends. In earlier years after retiring, she enjoyed taking short bus trips with friends.

Gust G. Pedos,  91, of McKeesport, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at home. He was born November 9, 1930 in the Village of Pigi on the Island of Ikaria in Greece and was the son of the late George and Anna (Tsounis) Pedos. Gust was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church,White Oak and the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood. For his service to his church, he received the St. Photios Award from the Metropolis of Pittsburgh. He was proprietor of Pedos Painting.

Carol Ann Miller, 52, died suddenly at her home in Liberty Borough on Monday, February 28, 2022.  Born in Staten Island, NY on September 16, 1969, she was daughter of the late Carl and Rose Marie Sloninski.  She was an employee of the Target in West Mifflin for over 20 years.  She is survived by her husband, Heath B. Miller, sisters, Veronica, Carla, and Darice, brother, Stephen, and mother in law, Mildred L. “Cissy” Miller, also by nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM.

Dorothy C. Bilan, age 97 of Summerville and formerly of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Jefferson Manor Health Center, Brookville.  Born November 6, 1924 in Large, she was a daughter of the late Jovo and Anna (Pekella) Raduykovich.  A retired Unit Secretary for the South Hills Health System and a custodian for the West Jefferson Hills School District, Dorothy was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, the CFU Lodge #248 of Clairton, and the AARP Wilson Chapter #1612.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Bilan, who passed away in 1979, and her son Richard Bilan, who passed away in 1976.  Dorothy is survived by her son David (Robin) Bilan of Summerville, grandsons Victor (Jennifer) and Anthony (Rachael) Bilan, her two great grandchildren Lydia and David, and her niece Caren  (John) Pacerucha.

Morgan Sr. and Norsis Jackson Morgan; brothers, James Morgan Jr. and William Morgan. He is survived by his brother Patrick (Bernie) Morgan, his children Coleen Wadowsky, Loreen Mitchell, Kathleen (Steve) Andrejcak, Robert J. Morgan, and Maureen (Ron) Dorsey, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Katie Mary Ann Maringo, 40, of Donora, lost her courageous battle with numerous illnesses on March 2, 2022 and is no longer in pain or suffering.  She was born November 17, 1981 in McKeesport and was the daughter of Frank and Bonnie M. (Arnold) Maringo of North Versailles.  Katie was a former member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church and had previously worked for Petco and Brize's Kennels.  She had a special love for animals. Katie enjoyed making jewelry for her friends and family. She had a love of music, she had just got a purple guitar and amp for her last birthday, that had brought her so much joy. She was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  Katie was a kind, caring and compassionate person who will be very missed.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a retired pipefitter for US Steel Clairton Works. Born May 3, 1923 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Edmund and Bertha (Achtzehn) Goettel and husband of the late Katherine "Betty" (Gee) Goettel. He is survived by daughter, Michelle (Frank) Pipak of O’Hara Twp.; sister, Alma Jarvis of Monessen; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Charlotta Cain, Iva Metz, Emma Joll and Yvonne "Bonnie" Garvin, and brothers, Brinton, Emmett "Bill" and Edmund Goettel. James A. Schonhardt, age 82, of Liberty Borough, died March 1, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport. Born May 23, 1939, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Max and Elizabeth (Rydle) Schonhardt and the husband of Adrienne (Roslosnick) Schonhardt.
James retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was a mail carrier. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the Port Vue American Legion Post #447 after the McKeesport American Legion closed. James was also a member of the 11th Ward Club and Croatian CFU Lodge 146. He enjoyed playing poker in his early years, trips to the casino in recent years, watching the Penguins and Pirates, and basking in the sun in his front yard. James's greatest joys were spending time with all of his family and grandchildren, especially his great-grandson, Ross, Jr. They would spend Sundays going to church in the morning and then enjoy the afternoons together.

Lebanon.  Born January 27, 1939 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late W. Thomas and Bethel Grace (Hail) Brown and wife of the late Felix J. DeSantis, who passed away June 13, 2005.  A retired environmental engineer for Jefferson Hospital, Bette was a member of Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church.  She is survived by her children Lisa (Charles) Grese of Venetia and Dean (Lydia) DeSantis of Pleasant Hills; her grandchildren Heather (Jeff) James, Charles (Merrill) Grese and Hailey Grese, and Dean "D.J.," Dante, and Dana DeSantis; her great-grandchildren Hayden, Jordan, and Grayson James and Nora Grese; and her special companion Bella.

Scrip, age 97 of Versailles, passed away surrounded by her beloved family on Sunday, February 27, 2022 in Paramount Senior Living - South Hills in Baldwin.  Born June 10, 1924 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Yurichko) Ursta.  A member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport, the CFU Lodge 146 in Versailles, and its former Ladies' Club, Ann worked most recently as a manager for the Elks Club in McKeesport.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael A. Scrip, who passed away March 1, 2011, and her siblings: Charles, George, and John Ursta, Julia Cooper, and Mary (Marko) Wojtowicz.  Ann is survived by her sisters Veronica Servov of Elizabeth Twp., Margaret Ursta of Versailles, and Julia A. Roberts of Versailles and also many nieces and nephews.

Danny G. Ulm, 65, of Dravosburg, formerly of Versailles, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022. He was born August 1, 1956 in McKeesport and is the son of the late George "Red" McKivitz and the late EllaMae K. Ulm. Danny worked as a truck driver for AJ Silberman & Co. for many years. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for Versailles Station 286 and was also a member of the Polish National Alliance Lodge 352. He loved gardening, fishing, and was a huge McKeesport Tigers and Ohio State Football fan. His family meant the world to him and he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. Danny collected model fire trucks and firemen memorabilia and was an avid collector of model trains. Every year during Christmas, he would build a giant display for his whole family to see and eventually it became a year round passion of his.

Lynda M. Cain, age 78, of North Adams, MA, died February 25, 2022, at Arden Courts of Jefferson Hills PA.  Born June 14, 1943, in Adams, MA, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Roma (Martin) Lanier and wife of the late Neil Cain, whom she loved dearly.  Lynda took pride in her community service by volunteering at the Food Bank in Adams and the former Sweet Brook Nursing Home.  She was a member of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams. She worked for many years for JC Penney, both in North Adams and Lanesboro, MA. She was an avid bowler when she was younger, bowling in leagues at Valley Park Lanes. Lynda loved to spend time with family and friends going out to lunch and dinner, and most of all shopping.  Lynda is survived by her daughters, Erin (Chris) Morgan and Lori (Jim Cyr) Lemoine; grandchildren, Connor Morgan, Dalton Lemoine, and Grace Lemoine.  A memorial service will be held in Massachusetts at a later date.
