Michael A. Opalko, age 67, of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh. Born in McKeesport on January 14, 1956, he is the son of Albert “Junior” and Patricia (Spanitz) Opalko of North Huntingdon. Michael graduated from Norwin Highschool in 1973, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, National Forensic League, ski club and other various activities. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, who was stationed in Germany, earning his parachutist “jump wings” and participated in the Army’s boxing programs. He was a US Postal worker, known fondly by everyone as “Mike the Mailman.” A long-time learner with time spent at St. Vincent College and Community College of Allegheny County, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from Penn State University, and continuing education certificates from Villanova University. He was a member of Bible Baptist Temple in Clairton, PA. Michael loved socializing, making friends with people from all walks of life. He was an eccentric, free spirit who had a presence as soon as he walked in the room and was happy to share his faith in Christ. Some favorite activities he is remembered by playing guitar, playing chess, swimming, music from the 60’s & 70’s, cooking (especially making his grandmother’s strudel), working on home projects, gardening, reading, and writing. He loved his close and extended family, and if you were a friend, he considered you family. If you were family, he was in your corner, and he was a good guy to have in your corner. He will be deeply missed by many. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Colleen (Pawlak) Opalko; children Jessica (Andrew Pfister) Opalko of Ben Avon Heights, Melissa Opalko of West Mifflin and Amanda (Louis M. Kruszewski) Opalko of Port Vue; grandchildren Nikolas, Madelyn, Laila, Alec, Iris, Christian and Millina. There will be no visitation at this time, but a Memorial Service and Commemoration of his Life will be held at a date to be announced. Stephen Edward Kielnar, age ­­­72, of McKeesport, died on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on February 6, 1951 and is the son of the late Stanley J. and Helen J. Michalek Kielnar. He received a bachelor’s degree from Point Park University and achieved the dean’s list every semester. He was employed as a Piping Engineer at Total Petroleum in Denver, CO. Before he was diagnosed 35 years ago with multiple sclerosis, he was an avid hiker, fisherman, and tennis player. He enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports teams and was a season ticket holder for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1970s. Stephen was a member at Mary, Mother of God Parish, Corpus Christi Church.

Clarence G. Hobaugh, age 77, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at home. He was a retired self-employed electrical engineer and computer programmer and a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp. An Air Force veteran, he was a former member of the Masonic lodge and social member of Blaine Hill Fire Hall and local VFWs, and a member of a local ham radio club. He enjoyed golf, was a master fixer and tinkerer of all things, and had some interesting theories about gravity. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and teaching them how to play chess. He had some interesting theories about gravity. Born December 4, 1945 in Uniontown, he was a son of the late Charles and Freda (Edenfield) Hobaugh and husband of the late Tracey D. (Thompson) Hobaugh. He is survived by sons, Benjamin J. (Jennifer Ford) Hobaugh of Monongahela and Jonathan C. (Trisha) Hobaugh of Greensburg; granddaughters, Violet Marie Hobaugh and Evelina Rose Hobaugh; and sister-in-law, Mary Hobaugh-Bitner. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brother, Charles Hobaugh. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. He loved fishing, camping and working on cars, and enjoyed attending his granddaughter's softball games. Born July 10, 1958 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary Ann (Butvin) Scapellato. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Karen S. James T. Lord, 94 of North Versailles died February 23, 2023 at Walden's View, North Huntingdon. He was born June 16, 1928 in Buena Vista, Pa., a son of the late William and Susana Heholt Lord. Jim was a member of Miller United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by U.S. Steel , National Tube Works. He enjoyed crafts, fishing and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyliss, a brother, William Lord, and a sister Alfertia Koyp. He is survived by a nephew Paul Koyp. Visitation will take place Sunday at the James W. Ciro J. Venturini

Ciro J. Venturini, age 88 of White Oak, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.  Born August 10, 1934 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Pio and Virginia (Banchig) Venturini.  A master bricklayer and talented craftsman and member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Angela of Merici Church, Ciro, or "PopPop" as he was known to his dear grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was an active man.  He enjoyed socializing at his favorite clubs: the 11th. Ward Club in McKeesport, CFU Lodge #146 in Versailles, and the BOP Elks # 872 and VFW Post # 5887, both in Ridgeway near his camp: "Camp Booze and Snooze."  At those locales, he'd knock back a few Millers, a.k.a. "Road Pops."   Ciro was also an avid hunter and fisherman, stalking his quarry of deer, elk, moose, and caribou and fishing for walleyes and salmon all throughout North America.  Ciro met his wife Irene (Morosko) Venturini at a polka dance at St. Mary’s on Versailles Ave. She passed away on July 22, 2021 after 67 years of marriage.  From there, they were able to travel the world, tracing her roots in Slovakia and his own family tree back to Azzida and Antro, Italy.  His last words were of happily being with his bride again. Ciro was also an accomplished cook, proud of his specialties of polenta, chili, and hot sausage, always followed up by a fondness of sweets.

Jenille Christine, “Chic” (Michel) Lillie, 70 of Clairton, formerly of McKeesport and Port Vue, passed away on Tuesday, February 21st, 2023, at McKeesport Hospital. She was born in Pittsburgh on February 4th, 1953, to Barbara (King) Michel Trollinger and the late Alfred Michel. Jenille was the loving wife of 17 years to the late Burnham L. Lillie. She is survived by daughters Stephanie (Michael) Morris of Union City and Zofia (Richard) Lattanzi of Clairton, as well as sons Shawn Link of Pittsburgh, Charles Barry of Clairton, Matthew (Rebecca) Barry of Corry, and stepchildren Burnie Lillie, Brandon Lindstrom, Kristy Murray, Jessica Goodrich, and Carrie Rigby. She is further survived by brother Raymond (Karen) Michel and sisters Sharon McGuire and Donna Michel. Additional survivors include grandchildren Elias, Issac, McKenna, LaKota, Logan, Tyler, Brooke, Ayla, Zyra, Tessa, Gabe, Nathan, Conner, Corey, and numerous step-grandchildren. Further survivors include great-grandchildren Jayden, Aurora, Elowen, and Neveah, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. Jenille was preceded in death by her husband Burnham, her father Alfred, daughter Jessica C. Montgomery, and brothers Gary, James, and Donald Michel. Her love for interior decorating and bringing happiness to those around her will be remembered fondly by her family. She enjoyed crafting centerpieces, making quilts, gardening, baking, fishing, and shopping. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 25th, 2023, from 2-5 P.M. at S.M. Larry worked in many different positions until his health would no longer permit him to perform. He was a member of Community Life of McKeesport. Larry enjoyed metal detecting and finding coins for his collection, walking, and poking fun at politics. He worked at Westinghouse in maintenance, where he served as a steward, and then at Electric Motor Services in Finleyville as a motor repairman. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He is the husband of Michaeleene (Evagues) Giannandrea for 35 years; father of Dedra (Aaron Freedom) Hoskowicz of Mt. Vernon; grandfather of Kamryn and Kaitlyn Hoskowicz; son-in-law of Eleanor Duche of West Mifflin; brother of Kathy (late Bob) Boor of Glassport and the late Mark Giannandrea; brother-in-law of Leonard (Joanne) Evagues of Duquesne, Alicia (Brian) Ziemke of Mt. Vernon and Pamela Markovich of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. There will be no visitation or services.
