Alan J. Procacina, age 71, of Duquesne, passed away on December 18, 2021, at home. Born in McKeesport on March 11, 1950, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Columbia (DeRose) Procacina. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name Church and the Duquesne-West Mifflin Knights of Columbus #4210. Alan was a very religious man. He is the brother of Dennis (Kathy) Procacina of North Versailles; uncle of Dennis (Alicia) Procacina of North Huntingdon, Paul (Kelley) Procacina of Irmo, SC, and Jennifer Procacina of North Versailles; great uncle of Adriana Procacina, Gino Procacina, Lorraine Procacina, and Luca Procacina. He is also survived by his companion, Tom Husar of Duquesne. He was a friend of Paul Husar and the late Violet Walker. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. Michael M. Phillips, age 90 of Floreffe and formerly of Clairton, passed away at home on Sunday, December 12, 2021.  Born October 19, 1931 in Clairton, he was a son of the late John and Suzanne (Praschak) Phillips.  A US Army Veteran of the Korean War and a retired steelworker for US Steel, Michael was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church, Clairton.  He is survived by his brother John (Barbara) Phillips of Alta Loma, CA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Besides his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his siblings Helen and Mary Sedor, Elizabeth "Betty" Montgomery, Susan Paul, Margaret Hunnell, and George and Charles Phillips.

Dana L. (Byers) Lewis, 50, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021. She was born January 26, 1971 in McKeesport and was the daughter of Darrell L. Byers of North Huntingdon and the late Kay Eileen (Sterner) Byers who passed away June 24, 2015. Dana was a graduate of Norwin High School and California University of Pennsylvania. In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, Sam "Buddy" K. Lewis, son, Mason G. Lewis at home, daughter, Madison R. Walters and  granddaughter, Jordan K-lynn Martin of Florida, sister, Lori (Bill) Salitrik of Connellsville, brother, Darrell J. (Tammi) Byers of Waynesburg, aunts, uncles and cousins. Mark O. Bedont Jr., 74, of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Centreville, VA and West Mifflin, PA, died peacefully in his sleep, at home, on Monday, December 13, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1947 to the late Mark O. Sr. and Beatrice (Ardiana) Bedont. Mark graduated from Indiana University of Pa. He retired as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Department of Labor. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 as a Radio Operator in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing with his son and friends every year in Cross Fork, PA, “The Gabby.” He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Sally, of 37 years; son Alex (Kari) Bedont; Grandchildren, Mark, Melody and Elijah; brothers, Gary and Jeff (Mary) of West Mifflin; Uncle to Melanie (Rob) Vitous, Eric (Lauren) Bedont, Tracey Lape (Mike Warywoda) and Tyler Douglass; Aunt Ada and cousin Joe Genito. Marlene Victoria Parker (nee Ero), age 79, died peacefully at home on Friday, November 19th, 2021, in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Marlene was born on March 23rd, 1942 in McKeesport, PA. She graduated from McKeesport Nursing School and Upsala College with a Masters in Human Resource Management. Marlene was very active in her community in Vernon, NJ where she taught Aerobic Dancing, and ferried her children to their multiple activities while young.

In 1998 she moved to Palm Harbor, FL where she worked as a patient advocate with United Healthcare, a job she really enjoyed in helping families with complex medical conditions find the care they needed.

Frances E. Baker, 98, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on December 9, 2021 in McKeesport, PA. 

Frances, affectionately known as, “Ma, granny, and Ms. Baker,” was born on May 13th, 1923, in Shelbyville, Tennessee to the late Doc and Alice Shelton.  She was one of four siblings.  Frances spent her childhood and early adult years in Shelbyville.  She met her husband, the late Walter B. Baker, while he was stationed in Tennessee.  The couple relocated to McKeesport in 1948.  From their union, in 1953, they welcomed a daughter, the late Clarissa F. Baker.    

Frances was a homemaker and loyal member of Christ Temple AME Church of McKeesport.  She was a devoted usher for several years.  Frances was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.  Friends and family all enjoyed spending time with her and hearing her unique laugh.

Adeline Bodnar, age 100 of Clairton, passed away at home on Friday, December 17, 2021. Born November 25, 1921 in Clairton, she was the daughter of the late Julio and Frances (Garcia) Gimiliano. Adeline was a member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton, the Italian Club, the Women's Guild of Ascension Church, and also volunteered and cooked for Meals on Wheels in Clairton. Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, the late Paul Bodnar Sr. who died 4/3/1999; her sons Dennis Bodner and Paul Bodner, Jr.; her daughter-in-law-Francine Bodner; her brothers Peter, Sam, John, and Daniel Gimliano and Joseph Levat; and her sisters Nancy Yacavace and Genevieve DelVecchio. Adeline is survived by her son Anthony (Teresa) Bodner of Orlando, FL; grandchildren Denise, Danielle, Jeffrey, and James; great-grandchildren Elena, Jack, Brandon, Nicholas, Gabrielle, and Jackson; and also many nieces and nephews.

Michael David Kovac, 57, of McKeesport, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born October 24, 1964 in Washington, DC and was the son of  Patricia Ann (Allen) Kovac of McKeesport.  Michael loved heavy metal music, most notably Ozzy Osbourne and also enjoyed playing guitar.  He had a love for all comic books, SciFi movies, Star Trek and all things science.  He will be greatly missed.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by sister, Robin (Eric) Anderson of Greenock, niece, Raychel Kovac of Greenock, cousins, Debbie (Jimmy) Miller of Dravosburg, Dennis (Melanie) Glaub of Liberty Boro, and Jordan Nunez of Dravosburg and other members of extended family.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike and Ellen Allen and his aunt, Dorothy Everly. Daughter of the late George and Mary (Petkanick) Dendak, she was born in Duquesne, on March 10, 1926. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish-Good Shepherd Church, the First Ladies Catholic Slovak Union, the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, a former member  of the Good Shepherd Choir and former member of St. Michael’s Altar Rosary Society. She was the beloved wife of the late John Joschak; mother of Richard (late Maxine) Joschak of West Mifflin, Donna (Ron) Powell of Center Twp., and late George “Dudgie” (late Marilyn) Joschak; grandmother of Victoria Powell, Joshua (Diana) Powell, Christina (Matt) Ricupero, Ryan (Nicole) Joschak, Eric (Caitlin) Joschak and Jessica (Justin) Sopko; 9 Great Grandchildren; many Nieces and Nephews; sister of the late Eva (Late Steve) Perish, late Anna (late Paul) Hoydich and late Mary “Jackie” (late Robert) Stoklas. Ruth was born in Frank, PA on July 18, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Gertrude Rhoades Frencik and Henry (Heinie) Frencik. She was the wife of the late Curtis Andrew Schwirian, who passed away July 14, 1975. Ruth leaves one son, Scott (Kim) Schwirian of Elizabeth Twp., and one granddaughter, Laci. Ruth was a proud 1948 band member and graduate of McKeesport High School and later received her degree from The Indiana State Teachers College, now known as IUP, where she was affiliated with Zeta Tau Alpha.
