John S. Kovach, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019.  He was born December 29, 1924 in McKeesport, son of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Fulop) Kovach.  Prior to his retirement, John was a machinist for Genuine Tool Company and a WWII veteran having served in the US Army.  John served in the Battery B 489th Coast Artillery Battalion and received WWII Victory Medal and two Bronze Star Medals while serving in Europe.  He was a member of the 11th Ward Club, McKeesport, White Oak American Legion and enjoyed going to his hunting camp at Camp Glenn, Snowshoe.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McCarthy Kovach; five sisters; and one brother.  He is survived by his sons, Thomas Kovach and his wife, Joanne; John Kovach and his wife, Camille; sister, Grace Balogh; and grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Mediate, John (Courtney) Kovach, Michael (Felicia) Kovach, Kathryn "Katie" Kovach; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kace.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Interment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles. Ruth N. (Gobbels) McAtee, 93, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Friday, June  21, 2019 at the Elizabeth Seton Home in Greensburg. She was born March 8, 1926 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Anna  Gobbels. She was the wife of the late George D. McAtee, Jr, who passed away in 2016. Ruth was a mother, homemaker and had a career working for Precise Metals and Plastics, Westinghouse Air Brake, and the McKeesport Chamber of Commerce. Ruth was a member of St. Agnes Church, the Christian Mothers and White Oak AARP.

Carolyn “Carol” (Lenhart) Weiss, age 87, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Redstone Highlands in North Huntingdon. She was born October 10, 1931 in Circleville, North Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late J. Rush and Ruby (Davidson) Lenhart. Carolyn graduated from North Huntingdon High School class of 1949, attended Burroughs Business School and worked for the National Supply company in Pittsburgh. She was the organist for the former Bethel United Presbyterian Church and a Sunday school teacher. Carolyn received a B.A. from Muskingum College and taught for 17 years in the Gateway School District. She did graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh, Penn State and the University of Indiana of Pennsylvania. She was a member of Hannastown Golf Club, Greensburg Garden Club, the National Retired Teachers Association, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, the U.S. Golf Association, and a former volunteer at the Redstone Highlands.

Simon, 83, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2019.   He was born May 11, 1936 in McKeesport, son of the late John and Susan (Sitte) Simon.  Prior to his retirement, Jack was an analytical technician for Westinghouse, Waltz Mill, a member of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard, the Free Hungarian Reformed Church of McKeesport and enjoyed antique cars.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary (Dinley) Simon.  He is survived by his son, Jon Simon; daughters, Laura Dolgas and her husband, Thomas, Tracy Nardozzo and her husband, Gregory; sister, Sally (Eugene) Buchleitner; and four grandchildren, Emily and Elena Dolgas, and Leah and Rocco Nardozzo.  Friends will be received at the James W.
