Chester F. "Chet"  Ornowski, 93, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died March 14, 2019 at home surrounded by family. He was born January 16, 1926 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Kurkowski) Ornowski. He was preceded by the love of his life, the late Patricia (Shank) Ornowski, who passed away January 31, 2014.  After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, Where he served as grade four technician with the 76th Infantry Division. In 1944, he was drafted into WWII, where he was a part of the Normandy Invasion. For his service he received 2 Purple Heart Medals for combat,  The Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, EAME Theatre Service Medal with three bronze stars, and The WWII Victory Medal. He retired from US Steel in 1983 after 35 years of service where he worked as a lab technician.

Paul Daniel Ohrman

Paul Daniel Ohrman, a retired metallurgical engineer and published author of “Living to Serve: Church, Family, Country” and “Bridges to Peace: WW II Through the Lens of a Combat Engineer” died peacefully with his family by his side at home March 9, 2019. He was 96.

Born and raised in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Daniel A. and Matilda H. (Anderson) Ohrman. Mr. Ohrman married his childhood sweetheart, Alice (Roland) Ohrman on December 21, 1947, and the couple resided in McKeesport and Monroeville, PA. where they raised their family.

Mr. Ohrman served honorably in the US Army during WW II as a Technical Specialist Grade 5 photographer with the 264th Combat Engineering Battalion in the European Theatre, building bridges for Patton’s 3rd Army. Mr. Ohrman took photographs of Erfurt and Buchenwald concentration camps when they were liberated. Following his military service, Mr. Ohrman earned degrees from Washington and Jefferson University, the University of New Hampshire, and Carnegie Mellon University. He was employed by US Steel as a chief metallurgical engineer at various mills and the national headquarters in Pittsburgh. After retiring from US Steel, he became technical services manager at National Materials Corp. and Tang Industries.

Duane P. Landstrom, age 87, of Dunwoody, Georgia, formerly of East McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019. He was born August 4, 1931 in East McKeesport, the son of the late Gunnard and Bertha Landstrom. He was a former member of the Christy Park Methodist Church in McKeesport. He retired after a long career as a clerk in accounting for US Steel at the Irvin Works in West Mifflin. He had a passion for baseball and loved to coach young players in the little league of McKeesport, CCAC and many other groups. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Edith Considine, Mildred Lorge, Ruth Bendel. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years Alberta (Kwolkoski) Landstrom; son Robert (Gena) Landstrom of Decatur, Georgia; grandchildren Juergie and Broedy Landstrom and Tyler Trosclair; and nieces and nephews.

Dianne Leeds Hacker King, 81, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019.  Born in McKeesport on November 10, 1937, Dianne was the daughter of the late William A. and Jean C. Hacker and younger sister of the late Margery L. Burns of Elizabeth Township.  A 1955 honors graduate of McKeesport High School, Dianne attended Allegheny College before briefly working for Connecticut General Life Insurance and Morris Knowles and Associates, Inc. in Pittsburgh.  Later she was quietly instrumental in the inception and early success of King's Family Restaurants, a business founded by her husband of 57 years, Hartley C. Costantino, 80, of Irwin, passed away Monday, March 12, 2019 at his home.  He was born August 18, 1938 in Turtle Creek, PA.  Prior to his retirement, John was a machinist and tool & die maker and a veteran of the US Army.  He was a member of St. Agnes Parish and was a ham radio operator.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Grace Rominski Costantino; sons, Anthony Costantino and his wife, Amber, John Costantino; daughters, Tina Costantino Leslie and Tricia Asaro; sister, Donna Penkova and her husband, Joseph; and seven grandchildren.  There will be no visitations.  Arrangements made by the James W. John was retired from U.S. Steel, Homestead Works, with 31 years of service. He was an active member of Calvary Church, North Huntingdon, and was one of the church’s founding members.
