She was a member of Mary, Mother of God - St. Patrick Parish in Christy Park. Helen was Founder of the McKeesport Majorette Drum and Bugle Corps. During the organization's forty years, she helped shape the lives of thousands of young men and women in the McKeesport and surrounding areas.

Mary Shatlock, age 97 of Greenock, passed away at home on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Born May 5, 1923 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Katherine (Shaughnessy) Kane. A graduate of the former St. Mercy College (now Carlow College) in Pittsburgh, Mary retired as a music teacher from both St. Peter's High School and Serra High School. A member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, she was also a member of the McKeesport College Club and very active at the former St. Denis Parish, where she was choir director, and was also the organist at St. Patrick's Church for many years. Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Vincent Charles Shatlock, who passed away October 26, 1986, and her sister Lois A. Kane. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lois Oermann of Greenock; her sons Vincent John Shatlock of Orlando, FL, Michael Paul Shatlock of Greenock, and Mark Francis Shatlock of Greenock; her five grandchildren; her seven great-grandchildren; her brother John J. Kane, Jr. of Fairfax, VA; and also nieces and nephews.

Patricia (Puzder) Mariani, age 82, of North Versailles Twp., passed on June 25, for a joyful heavenly reunion with her daughters, Gina Ann and Diana Mariani, and granddaughter, Gina Marie Mariani.
She dedicated her life to her faith and love for others, showing kindness and selflessness to all who knew her. While raising her four children, she pursued undergraduate and master’s teaching degrees and went on to share a love of learning and reading with generations of students at St. Aloysius, St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Bede Catholic Schools.
She was the rock and center of her family, demonstrating strength and courage throughout her life, even to her final moments. She loved to travel, read, swim, socialize, and most of all spend time with her family, especially many trips to the beach and Christmas celebrations.

She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary for North Braddock Fire Department, 1st Ward, and loved to dress up for the ladies auxiliary and the children's Halloween and Christmas parties. She loved visiting the Atlantic City casinos with the ladies bus tours. She loved writing poems and songs and loved going for long rides in the country. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, but most of all her passion was singing.

Frances M. Germek, age 102 of Buford, GA and formerly of Port Vue, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Born December 28, 1917 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Casimir and Mary F. (Boczar) Pomycala. A member of St. Mark's Parish in Port Vue (the former St. Joseph’s Church), where she was a member of the Christian Mother’s Association, Frances volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the Senior Center. During World War II, she was employed by Westinghouse. Frances enjoyed family gatherings, crocheting, bowling, playing cards, pool and Bingo. She was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and watched every game. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Andrew P. Germek, who passed away April 14, 2000; her siblings: Bertha Pomycala, Florence Puhala, Jean Trocksa, Alice Cindric, Patricia Rushe, and John and Stanley Pomycala; her sisters-in-law, Loretta, Shirley and Esther Pomycala; her brother-in-laws William Roper, John Puhala, Tony Trocksa, Matt Cindric, and Milan Puskaric; and her nephew, David Puskaric. Frances is survived by her children Richard (Pat) Germek of Spring Hill, TN and Carole (Bruce) Zavitz of Buford, GA; her six grandchildren; her thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings: Rita Puskaric and Raymond (Louise) and Richard (Sandy) Pomycala; and many nieces and nephews.

Ted Daniel Drahusz, 50, of Rock Hill, SC went home to our Lord on June 22, 2020. Ted was born on June 4, 1970, in McKeesport, PA to Linda and George Drahusz, Jr. Ted spent his formative years in North Huntingdon, PA attending St. Agnes grade school. As a youth, Ted cultivated a love for the outdoors and was heavily involved in the Boys Scouts, Troop 293, attaining the rank of Star Scout. Some of his fondest childhood memories were in the scouts at Cubby's cabin in the fall, and Camp Conestoga in the summers. He closed out his formative years graduating from Norwin Senior High in 1989.Ted proudly served a total of 15 years in the military. He was part of the 28th Infantry Division in the PA Army National Guard for many years before transferring to the NY Army National Guard and later onto the Army National Guard in Hickory, North Carolina. After 9/11, Ted and his division were sent to guard parts of New York City and Long Island. He ended his military career as a sergeant. During this time, Ted spent close to 20 years working for Sherwin Williams at various positions and locations. Looking for a change, Ted relocated to the South to study medical imaging equipment technology at ECPI College of Technology in Charlotte, NC. He was a Test Technician at International Medical Equipment and Service. Through all this, Ted was a devoted father who enjoyed time outdoors hiking and fishing with his children. Ted’s passion for life was evident. Ted earned a second-degree black belt in Seidokan, Okinawan martial arts. Additionally, he spent time hiking, fishing, reading, and most recently joined an ax-throwing club. Ted is survived by his two sons Brandon and George who were his pride and joy, as well as his stepdaughter Adriana Restrepo, and his stepson Jason Restrepo. In addition, he is survived by his mother Linda (Tyson) Drahusz and George Drahusz, Jr. Ted also leaves behind three brothers, George R. Drahusz (Michelle Drahusz) of Delaware, Daniel V. Drahusz (Stacey Drahusz) of Massachusetts, and Joseph J. Drahusz (Shelley Drahusz) of Pennsylvania, as well as many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ted is also survived by the mother of his children and friend, Martha Roa. Also, Ted recently found new love and leaves behind his girlfriend, Nubia Ana Guzman. Ted will be remembered for his dedication to his children, his good-natured and easy-going spirit, great sense of humor and laugh, and his patience. He was the type of person that would do anything for you and that's what he did all of his days that we were blessed to have him.

Thomas Wayne Weber, age 76, of White Oak, died June 23, 2020 in hospice care at Kane Regional, McKeesport. Born Dec. 8, 1943, in Braddock, PA, he was the son of Charles and Mary (Conroy) Weber. One of nine children, Tom graduated from St. Thomas High School in Braddock.
He moved to Duquesne in 1969 he retired from Conrail Railroad, where he worked as a Linesman most of his life. Raised in the Catholic faith, Tom was a very prayerful man who had a close relationship with the Lord. Later in life, he found a sense of community and peace by joining Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak, where he was a faithful member. He was an avid fisherman and some of his favorite times were spent at his lake home in Jamestown, PA, near Pymatuning Lake.

Her Infectious laugh grabbed the hearts of everyone she encountered. Jane was a giver and loved people. Jane loved being around family and friends. Jane was strong and was a survivor. Beverly was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, a leader of Ladies of Charity, a parishioner of St. Michael Church, and taught catechism at both St. Perpetua and St. Michael parishes. In her youth, Beverly performed in Civic Light Opera, and later taught dance lessons at the former Three Sisters Dance Studio in McKeesport and privately in her home. She also taught dance and exercise at McKeesport Penn State Campus and was a volunteer at McKeesport Hospital. She had previously worked for several years at the former Beneficial Finance in McKeesport. She is survived by her son, Kevin Karg of Elizabeth Township, daughter, Karin M. (Scott Kimball) Karg and grandson, John Baer Kimball of Waltham, MA. There is no visitation. Gertrude Dietz Ferris, of Houston, Texas, died on Monday, June 15, 2020, at the age of at 99. She passed away in peace and at the time of her death was surrounded by her loving family. Gertrude was born Sept. 12, 1920, to Peter and Anna Dietz in Kersey, Pa. She was one of 10 children and had four sisters and five brothers. She grew up on her family’s farm and continued to return to Kersey, every summer for the remainder of her life. She enjoyed visiting her many nephews, nieces and cousins in Elk County, Pa. Gertrude was a graduate of Kersey High School and married William on Nov. 27 1941. She passed the war years in Kersey, with her first son, William. Gertrude later lived in Ford City, Natrona and Brackenridge, Pa., before moving to Columbia, Mo., to be near her second son, Stephen. Later she moved to Houston, Texas, where she lived for the remainder of her life close to her eldest son, William. While in Houston, she was able to visit with her many great-grandchildren. Gertrude was married for 61 years to William Ferris, who preceded her in death in 2002. She had four children: William (Delores), Suzanne, Stephen (Madonna) and Gregory (Karen). She has three grandchildren: William Ferris, Stephen Ferris and Raymond Ferris. She has five great-grandchildren: Ashley Ferris, William Ferris, Michael Ferris, Kira Ferris and Zachary Ferris. Gertrude loved to play bingo and was a regular at it. She had a green thumb and could grow practically anything. Her home was always filled with various plants and flowers. She was a long-term member of St. Joseph Parish in Natrona, Pa., and was active in its many events. Her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Natrona Heights. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery in Brackenridge, Pa., next to her husband, William, and her daughter, Suzanne. Franchi Antonio Tines Mitchell transitioned peacefully in his sleep into the presence of the Lord on June 1, 2020. He was the second son born in McKeesport, PA on December 12, 1963, to Thelma Jean Tines and Frank Ross.
At the age of four, he received his call to preach. At five, he started singing with his brother Deryck with their mother as she traveled and played for the mount olive baptist church in Clairton, Pa. They were nicknamed “French Fries and Ketchup.” He was fathered and pastored by the late Bishop George F. Mitchell, who also baptized him and encouraged him to play the drums as our first drummer in Freedom, PA. Franchi, himself was a follower of Christ and was a founding and lifelong member of the Free Holiness Church of Deliverance. He graduated from Duquesne High School in 1981 desiring to be an accountant. He attended Kent State University in Kent, Ohio for Accounting and Business Management on a full baseball scholarship. He was an amazing shortstop and team player who was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers.
In 1981, he became the proud father of his first child, Nikkia Boyd. She is the first of all of the grandchildren. He later married Carmen Johnson, and they have remained friends until his death. In the early 1990’s, Franchi moved to Virginia where he met Daphne Patten, his companion of his last 28 years. To this union were born two sons, Franchi Antonio Jr. and Fahrraan Mitchell.

Robert ‘Bob’ Bartolomeo, age 65, of Clairton passed away after a battle with cancer on Sunday, June 7th, 2020, with his loved ones at his side. Born September 26th, 1954 in Clairton, Bob was a wonderful soul and had a huge heart toward others. He was passionate about broadcasting, sports… especially Penn State football, loved local history, and was an advocate for animal rescue. His brothers, family, and friends will miss him very much. Bob attended Penn State University and was the varsity football Equipment Manager for Joe Paterno. He was also a member of the 1979 Sugar Bowl Champions. In his 40-year career, he worked in Washington, D.C. as managing director of affiliate relations for United Stations. Additionally, he was on-air for WMZQ, and most recently on KQV. During his radio career, Bob also worked for Unistar, Westwood One, Premiere, TRN, CNN, FNN, and CNBC. He worked closely with top talent including Dick Clark, Don Imus, Jim Rome, Mancow, and Pittsburgh’s Chuck Brinkman. Robert joins both his parents who predeceased him, George L. Bartolomeo, and Carmela (Virgona) Bartolomeo-Pholar. He was born on May 2, 1932 the son of the late Charles and Emily Zwingler and brother to the late Loretta “Beezie” Barker and Harry “Luke” Bowen. He was a graduate of McKeesport Votech and retired from Hercules Chemical Corp in 1995. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Army where he served with the 18th Airborne Corps Artillery. Chuck was an active member of Pine Run United Methodist Church. He served faithfully in just about every capacity and sang with the chancel choir for 60 years. He volunteered at Clairton Meals on Wheels at the Clairton Food Bank and was past president of the Clairton AARP 1612 where he sang with their Yankee Doodle Dandies. Chuck was a member of the Omni Masonic Lodge #582, American Legion Post #0075 and Steel Valley Lifespan. He enjoyed researching his ancestry, history, traveling, watching Pittsburgh sports and taking Sunday naps. Chuck was a friend to all and deeply loved his friends, family and community. (Anthony) Brajdic of North Versailles, and Mary Lynn (Raymond) Baez of Rockledge, FL; her thirteen grandchildren: Michael, Derek, and Natalie Scheib, Nicole and Anthony Brajdic, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Caden, and Brady Jensen, and Rachel, Andrew, Thomas, and Jessica Baez; her two great-grandchildren Kylee Scheib and Cameron Hunter; her sister Cathy (Henry) Brethold of South Park; her brother Thomas (Janet) Brady of Boston, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Alice J. Cochenour, age 89 of North Huntingdon and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 in The Grove at Irwin. Born August 21, 1930 in Clairton, she was a daughter and one of fourteen children of the late William and Bella (Gasser) Felicetty. A former staffer with Drs. Herzog and Gioia, Alice was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and the Clairton Football Mothers. She was also a Democratic Party committeewoman in Clairton and a former member of the Ladies Guild of St. Clare Church. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Cochenour, Sr.; who passed away September 22, 1996, her children Thomas E. Cochenour, Jr. and Kathy Eastman; grandchildren Stephanie and Benjamin Szilvasi; great-granddaughter Kelliann Geyser; and eleven of her fourteen siblings. Reddy "Rade" Vucelich peacefully passed on Friday, May 29, 2020 at the age of 86. Reddy was born on November 25, 1933 to the late Vlade and Mary (Kukich) Vucelich. He was the loving husband of Julia (nee Gulish) Vucelich for 61 years. Devoted father of Debra (Dominick) Capolarello, Daniel (Elaine) Vucelich, and Danica (Davor) Brkovich. Wendell was a graduate of Redstone High School, served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired as a maintenance supervisor for Bell Atlantic after over 37 years’ service. He was a member First United Methodist Church, Irwin where he sang in the chancel choir and was a member of the Methodist Men and the Happy Methodists. He was also a member of Shidle Lodge 601, F. & A. M., Irwin, and a longtime member of the Men’s Prayer Fellowship and the Bell Telephone Pioneers. He also tuned pianos for many years.
