Pastor August M. Thalman, Jr., 92, of Elizabeth, passed away Monday, December  30, 2019. He was born January 19, 1927 in Freeport and was the son of the late August M. and Daisy (Johns) Thalman, Sr. Pastor Thalman was a former Pastor of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. He was a member of the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Co., and was a former chaplain at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Butler. He was a Pastor in area churches for over 50 years and was also a WWII US Navy Veteran. For his service, he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.

Bedont age 69, of West Mifflin, died Tuesday December 31, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born January 29, 1950 to the late Mark Sr. and Beatrice (Ardiana) Bedont, he was a roll turner at the former Mesta Machine Co. and a pharmacy tech at the V.A. Hospital in Oakland.  He is survived by brothers Mark Jr. (Sally) of Williamsburg, VA, Gary of West Mifflin and Jeff (Mary) of West Mifflin; loving uncle of Melanie (Rob) Vitous, Eric (Lauren) Bedont, Alex Bedont, Tracey Lape (Mike Warywoda) and Tyler Douglass; great uncle to Dylan and Trevor Bedont, Mark and Melody Bedont, Kacen Lape and Teagan Warywoda. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300 where a blessing service will be held on Monday, January 6 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church, Duquesne at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Biller, age 52 of Sarasota, FL, passed away suddenly in Jefferson Hospital on January 1, 2020.  Born July 23, 1967 in Connellsville, he was the son of the late Bill and Alberta (Hyatt) Biller.  Brock was the owner of Green Goat Landscaping in Sarasota, and served 4 years in the US Air Force.  He is survived by his siblings Troy (Mia) Tamburri of Baldwin, William and Brent (Lisa) Biller, both of Connellsville, Shawn Tamburri of Miami, FL, Babbette (Tony) Miele of Uniontown, and Heather Biller of Freeport; and his special friend Kathy Servich.  Brock is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Lloyd Paul Miller, 87, of Irwin, died Tuesday December 31, 2019, at Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born October 9, 1932 in East McKeesport, a son of the late Lloyd P. and Esther Johnson Miller.

He was a retired employee of Bell Telephone with 37 years’ service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin and a former active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and an avid woodworker and bowler and enjoyed photography. He built both homes his family was raised in.

Paul wintered in Florida for many years with his late wife Suzanna and was a loving father and grandfather.

Janet I. (Gundy) Schiavone, age 80, of Irwin, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019. She was born December 8, 1939 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Albert and Elise Gundy.

She worked in the drive thru of Wendy’s Restaurant in Irwin for over 23 years before retiring. She loved to golf, bowl, and travel once a year to Las Vegas and enjoyed coffee with her close friend and neighbor Susan.

She is survived by her husband of over 63 years Joseph C. Schiavone; children Joseph (Marcy) Schiavone of Greensburg, Michael (Mary) Schiavone of Harrison City, Kenny Schiavone of Pittsburgh, and James Schiavone, Ralph (Roxane) Schiavone, and Robert (Denise) Schiavone all of Irwin; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her sister Jonella.

Edward J. Balog, Sr., age 80 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born July 31, 1939 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Sopp) Balog.  A member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in McKeesport, Edward received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and worked as an industrial engineer with US Steel, Westinghouse, Modulus, and Teledyne.  He finished his working career as a maintenance supervisor at Mayview Hospital and also taught plant layout and design at CCAC Boyce Campus in Monroeville.  In his spare time, he was a car buff, a cat lover, and a talented handyman.  Most importantly, Edward is now reunited with the love of his life, the late Pauline (Cherepko) Balog, who passed away August 26, 2011.  He is now truly at peace.  Edward is survived by his children Edward J. (Rhonda) Balog, Jr. of North Huntingdon, David G. (Kristina) Balog of Saegertown, Marie (John) Crupie of North Huntingdon, and Diane (Phil) DePietro of Penn Twp.; his grandchildren Courtney and Taylor Crupie; Jake and Allison DePietro; and Justin, Dylan, Brittney, Nathan, Zachary, and Mikayla Balog; and his cat Nikki.

Timothy D. Mitchell, age 77, of Glassport, died Monday, December 23, 2019.  He was born in McKeesport on August 15, 1942 and is the son of the late Aziz and Margaret Miklos Mitchell. 

He served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam Era then worked at the former Bucyrus Erie Plant in Glassport for many years. 

He is survived by his brothers, David (Linda) Mitchell of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jonathan Mitchell of Glassport.

Teamann, 76, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019.  He was born January 20, 1943 in Rankin, a son of the late Arthur and Cecelia (Ridge) Teamann.  Prior to his retirement, Joe was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Irwin and a veteran of the US Navy having served during Vietnam.  He was president of NALC, National Association of Letter Carriers, former president of St. Agnes Athletic Association, coached various sports teams at St. Agnes including softball and ran Bingo.  He had a passion for horse and dog racing and enjoyed watching various sports.  He is survived by his wife, Karen Smarra Teamann; sons, Shawn (Cheryl) Teamann, George (Tina) Feltes, Brad (Katy) Feltes; daughters, Deborah Teamann, Tris (Don) Stephanic, Lauren (Ron) Gdovic; brothers, Arthur, James, Brian, Leo and Martin Teamann; sister, Felica Weisner' granddaughter, Jessica Emehizer; sister-in-law, Margaret Jadlocki; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and  nephews. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon.   A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, with Fr.
