Barbara Ann Perkoski, age 78, of Liberty Boro, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. Born March 6, 1943 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael Farmer and the late Agnes Principal. She was a member of St. Eugene Church in Liberty Boro and would work as a secretary for the family business. She loved spending time on the family farm (Perkoski’s Farm) and will remember as a loving mother, grandmother, and as the glue that held the family together.

Robert John Gersch, age 69, of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his home. Born August 4, 1951 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Edward Francis and Clara Lena (Buccello) Gersch. He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and had a Masters from the University of Pittsburgh in Microbiology. He worked as a Loan Officer at PNC Bank in Pittsburgh, a Travel Agent for American Express, was a former Democratic Committee Planner, a Partner in Sera-Tech Biologicals in Oakland, and was a licensed funeral director in the Pittsburgh area. Robert was a member of the Sixth Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Mediation Society, and took part in the Presbyterian Peace Keeping Mission.

Lanny Anderson Pancoast, age 69, of Elizabeth Twp. and formerly of Norfolk, VA, passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 in UPMC East Hospital, Monroeville. Born March 9, 1952 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late William Van Pancoast and Irene (Corry) Pancoast. A US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era and a retired service technician for Kolbe Windows and Doors, Lanny was also preceded in death by his sister Beverly Jo Davis, who passed away April 6, 2011. He is survived by his nephew Sean (Heidi) Davis of Elizabeth Twp., his great-niece Adysson Davis, and his great-nephew Aidan Davis.

Chester Charneicki Jr., age 78, of Forward Twp., passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at home. He was a retired electrician for U.S. Steel Clairton Works. Born February 26, 1943 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Chester Charneicki Sr. and the late Ann (Ulich) Charneicki and husband of the late Michele J. Charneicki. He is survived by son, Maurice A. Charneicki of Green Cove Springs, FL; grandchildren, Amber (Ryan) Richotte, Candice Charneicki and Rena Charneicki; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Noah, Jasiah, Micah, Jonah and Ariella; also, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Samuel V. Milice, age 88 of Liberty Borough, passed away peacefully in his sleep and surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 21, 2021 in UPMC McKeesport.
Born September 30, 1932 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Anthony and Mary (Campo) Milice and husband of 67 years of the love of his life, the late Norma Jean (Miller) Milice, who passed away May 23, 2020. A US Army Veteran of the Korean War, Samuel was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish in Liberty Borough and retired after 30 years as postmaster at the McKeesport Post Office.
In his spare time, Samuel enjoyed duck pin bowling at the lanes in Glassport, rooting on the hometown Pittsburgh sports teams, and was a member of the Lions Club, the Natl. Assoc. of Postmasters, the Nat. Assoc. of Retired Federal Employees, the Liberty Borough Veterans, the Croatian Club #146, the Sons of Italy in Glassport. Most of all, Samuel loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by his children Samuel Anthony (Christine) Milice, Cheryl (David) Dujmic, and Debbie (Greg) Swank; his grandchildren Nicole (Michael) Hetrick, Shaun (Alecia) Johnston, Samuel (Jennifer) Johnston, Alexi (Brandon) Darr, and Chelsi and Aubri Swank; his great-grandchildren Samantha Hetrick, Micah Hetrick, and Madison Johnston; his sister Nancy Porecco of Colorado Springs, CO; and also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Samuel was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Milici.

Florence (Balog) Ocilka Sullivan, age 88, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Paramount Senior Living South Hills. She retired as a production line worker for General Motors Fisher Body in West Mifflin.
She was a member of Saints Joachim & Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Twp. and was active with local senior citizen groups. Born January 1, 1933 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late John and Susan (Lucas) Balog.
She is survived by her husband, Roderick P. Sullivan; sons, George (Cynthia) Ocilka of Boiling Springs, SC, David (Lynn) Ocilka of Chester Springs and John (Angie) Ocilka of Elizabeth Twp.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Stash of Waynesburg; also, nieces and nephews.

Peggy J. Williamson, age 91 of Clairton, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. Born January 15, 1930 in Salem, IN, she was a daughter of the late Verna Clemons Medlock and Laura Kathryn (Clark) Fess. A retired outpatient clerk at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Peggy was a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church in Clairton; the Eastern Star Clairton Chapter #316; a Past President of the PASARD - Pittsburgh Area Square and Round Dancers Federation; Past President of the local PTA; and a member of the American Sewing Guild. She is survived by her husband Harry Gilbert Williamson; her daughters Kathleen (the late Norman) Rinker of Jeffersonville, IN, Karen Williamson of Clairton, and Francell W. (Robert) Helfrich of Atkinson, NH; her grandchildren Alan and Bryan Rinker, Kathryn Gibbs, and Allyson Levesque; her five great-grandchildren; her sisters Nancy C. Dowell of Salem, IN and JoAnn Lemmell of Lanesville, IN; her brother Dale Edwin (Willie) Fess of New Albany, IN; and also nieces and nephews.

Richard W. Brendza, age 88, of Clairton and formerly of McKeesport, passed away peacefully in his home comforted by his family on March 16, 2021. Born on January 31, 1933 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Janocko) Brendza. Richard was a Navy veteran serving during the Korean War, an electrical motor inspector for U. S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin and a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, Clairton Worship site. After retirement Richard enjoyed spending time on the Monongahela riding his Jet Ski and will always be remembered for his fun loving personality. Richard is survived by his loving daughter Sharon Brendza, his caregiver with whom he resided.

Michael Goda Jr., age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 15, 2021. Born July 13, 1928 in Cokeburg, PA, he was the son of the late Michael Goda Sr. and Maria (Kovalchik) Goda.
During the Depression of 1930, Mike, his mother and two siblings left the United States and went back to Slovakia, where the family was from. In 1948, Michael returned to the United States where he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 31st Infantry Dixie Division in the Korean War. He worked at U.S. Steel Clairton Works for 31 years.
Mike was an avid singer, not only at home but as a cantor for 25 years at Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church.
If you knew Mike, you knew he loved to work on his farm where he gardened and raised sheep for many years. He also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events where everyone knew him as “Pap.” He never met a person he didn’t like and always enjoyed talking to everyone.

Michael had a deep-rooted bond with his family and extended family, and was especially close with his cousins. He was proud of and embraced his heritage and always enjoyed family gatherings and other types of celebrations. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and was involved with the Owls in Industry and the WMBU in Blythedale.
Born March 21, 1960 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Michael J. Gogoel Jr. and the late Helen B. (Korona) Gogoel. He is survived by his sisters, Katharine (Arthur) Hohn of Ruffsdale, Barbara (Jimmy) Pascotti of Elizabeth Twp., Michele Boyd of Elizabeth Twp., Claire (David) Bench of Austin, TX, and Bernadette Thompson of Cheswick; nieces and nephews, Arthur, Christopher, Kara, Amy, Marshall, David, Natalie, Vinnie and Wayne; 12 great-nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; special friend, Bonnie Maringo; also, cousins and close friends.
