Edward Slater, age 85, of Liberty Borough, died April 13, 2016, at Washington County Health Center. Born August 18, 1930, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Edward and Edith (Nystrom) Slater and the husband of the late Rachel “Rae” (Hyndman) Slater, for nearly 65 loving years, whom he married on February 17, 1951.

Brian Edward Coker, age 45 of McKeesport, died April 8, 2016 at UPMC Mercy Hospital. Born October 5, 1970, he was the son of Edward A. and Sandra L. (Berbigler) Coker, and step son of Maribeth Coker. In addition to his parents, he is survived by children, Sabrina Coker, Brian Dalton, and Gregory Dalton; granddaughter, Leslie Nicholas; sister, Amina Coker, and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Brian Francis Strager, age 51, of Scott Township, and formerly of Liberty Borough, died March 30, 2016, at his home, a group home managed by the Partners For Quality Foundation. Born Feb. 9, 1965, in McKeesport, he was the son of Mary Lou (Zuro) Strager and the late Frank Strager. Brian had worked at the Center For Creative Opportunities in Coraopolis. Life held many special events for him. He enjoyed camping, train rides, the Gateway Clipper and most of all, the circus.

Timothy R. Hall, age 62, of McKeesport, died March 29, 2016, at his home. Born Oct. 15, 1953, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Robert G. and Jeanne (Nelson) Hall and the husband of Audrey (Guthrie) Hall.
Timothy was a mechanic and retired from Dan Reed Auto. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with family and friends at his cabin near Cook Forest, riding his motorcycle with best friend, Tom Mollard and talking cars with his buddy, Dan Reed.

Rita Theresa Gearing, age 91, of Liberty Borough passed away on March 28, 2016, with her loving family by her side, at Senior Care Plaza. Born September 29, 1924, in Ford City, she was daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Petrovsky) Hribik and the loving wife of Herman William Gearing, Jr. Rita dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a member of the St. Mark Parish, where she actively participated as a member of Christian Mothers as well as the Ladies of Charity. She made friends wherever she went and will be remembered for her cheerful disposition and generosity.

Dolores Jean “G.G.” “Mean Jean” Suarez, 84 of McKeesport, died at her daughter’s home on March 25, 2016. Born February 11, 1932 in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Emery and Winifred Headly and wife of the late Ray Suarez. Dolores worked as a cook for Hoot’s, the Viking Lounge, and Twin Oaks. She had a love of animals and everyone who met her, loved her.

Arline R. Clark, 92, of North Versailles, formerly of Port Vue, died March 25, 2016, at AHN Forbes Hospital. Born July 16, 1923, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Louise (Arnold) Robertson and wife of the late Gerald J. Clark. She was an active member of the Point Pleasant Retirement Community where she entertained the other residents every six weeks with shows, often with holiday themes, sing-a-longs, and of course, her myriad of jokes. Arline was a member of St. Mark Parish and the Christian Mothers within the church. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mark Parish and John J. Kane Regional in McKeesport, and also volunteered at Kane Regional in McKeesport for over 15 years.

Rose Campbell, age 88, of Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth, formerly of Christy Park, died March 23, 2016, at Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth. Born September 27, 1927, in Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Grace (Primerana) Costa and the wife of the late William Campbell for 60 loving years.

Rose retired from the McKeesport Area School District, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the St. Patrick Parish, Christian Mother’s and the Christy Park Seniors. She enjoyed growing flowers and her own vegetables for cooking Sunday dinner, Holiday meals and for family gatherings. Rose loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Denise dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a home healthcare specialist for Arcadia Healthcare, Bayada Healthcare, Home Instead Healthcare and especially took joy in caring for Elmer and Joan at their home.

Nancy Ann (Porter) Roolf, age 90, of Liberty Borough, died March 20, 2016, at her home. Born September 21, 1925, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Cornelia M. (Miller) Porter and beloved wife of 45 years to the late Raymond H. Roolf. Nancy was active in many community endeavors, including the Liberty Borough Womens Club, Cub Scouts Pack 53, the Liberty Borough Elections Commission, and the McKeesport Golden Key Club for seniors. In her free time, she enjoyed calligraphy and crewel work.

Anna V. Vavrek, age 98, of McKeesport, died March 11, 2016, at John J. Kane Regional Center. Born April 12, 1917, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Banick) Vavrek.
Anna was retired from McKeesport Hospital, where she worked in the house keeping department. She was a member of the St. Mark Parish and in her early years she enjoyed sewing, running and the outdoors.
