Robert J. Smerker, age 78, of Port Vue, Pa., died October 29, 2020 at Walden's View, North Huntingdon. He was born June 27, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late John and Edith Smerker. Prior to his retirement, Robert was employed as the Vice President of Three Rivers Bank in Jefferson. He collected coins, stamps, enjoyed spending time at the gym and loved baseball. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Smerker; one daughter, Denise Newton and her husband Robert; one brother, Ron Smerker and his wife, Carol; grandchildren, Joshua, Adam and Aaron. Corrine Louise Gilbert, 95, of Greensburg, formerly of Blairsville died peacefully, Wednesday October 28, 2020 at Westmoreland Manor. She was born September 9,1925 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Wilson T. & Anna Gilbert. Corrine had worked at Sabin China and then at sewing factories in Blairsville and the state of California. She was very talented making crafts and crocheting. She made many beautiful things that her family will cherish for years to come.

Ann E. Elms, age 98, of Beaver Falls, formerly of Liberty Borough, died October 27, 2020, at Cambridge Village. Born November 13, 1921, in Monongahela, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Mary Cherry and the wife of the late John W. Elms. Ann was retired from Daughtery Tool and Die and was a member of Park Baptist Church. She loved to bake and was famous for her cookies and candy. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter and family to the beach, New York City, and Disney World.

Barbara L. DiNicola Popowitz — wife, mom, friend, and nanny extraordinaire — passed away peacefully from leukemia on October 27, 2020, with Tony, her husband of 50 years, and her children by her side. Barbara was a beautiful light in this world, sharing love, laughter, positivity, humor, and amazing food (a gourmet candy chef!) with all those blessed to know her.
Barb was born May 12, 1950, in Pittsburgh to Joseph and Laura DiNicola, and raised in West Mifflin. She was a woman of great faith, a member of Christ the Light of the World Catholic Church in Duquesne, and served the Lord and church as a Christian Mother, a member of Christ the Light of the World Ladies Prayer Group, and as a Lady of Charity.

After her children were grown, she enjoyed making hoagies at Fuzzy's and catering for Joe Winzek's in Glassport. She loved spending time and cooking for her family, traveling, casinos, crafts, crocheting and especially spending winters in Arizona.
She was the founding member of the Vermont Avenue Card Club where they shared many fun-filled memories. "Bubbie" lived her life to the fullest and always had room in her home and in her heart, especially at the dinner table for friends and family.

(Smith-Colclaser) Hall. She held a bachelor’s degree in social work and served for 25 years at the YMCA Youth Shelter for Delinquent and Dependent Children. She was a member and elder of Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

Gwendolyn Saunders, 82, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Survived by her daughter, Robyn Saunders (Alan O’Brien), and preceded by her husband Elmer “Buck” Saunders (2018), Gwen was a long-time resident of Walkerton, IN, where she and Buck ran an award winning dairy farm for over 35 years. In addition to farming, Gwen worked at Kodak and Wells Aluminum. She was intelligent, hard-working, and always on the go. She had many hidden talents and stories. Gwen was voted Bride of the Season in 1956. She was a tap dancer, a bowler, and easily the best mechanic around.

Richard R. Kugler Jr., age 73, of North Huntingdon, died October 23, 2020, at home. Born March 1, 1947, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Richard R. Kugler and Mary Loretta (Barry) Kugler and the husband of Deena L. Kugler for 38 years.Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a retired Millwright from SMS Tech Service. Richard was a member of St. Agnes Church in Irwin. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and especially enjoyed going to Whites Creek. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and they were his world. Richard had the biggest heart and was truly a great man.

She worked on the floor for the stock company for several years before dedicating her life to raising her children. She loved gardening and cooking.
