Wendell G. Yates, age 95, of Elizabeth, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Grandview Estates of Elizabeth. He retired after 39 years as a steelworker for U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. An Army veteran, he served 2 1/2 years in China, Burma and India during World War II. He was a member of Blaine Hill AARP and Forward Twp. Senior Citizens. Born June 19, 1923 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Bert H. and Violet C. (Cramer) Yates and husband of the late Thelma Ruth (Herget) Yates. He is survived by daughter, Dorothea Kelly of West Newton; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson; also, nieces and a nephew. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Wendy Thorn, and brother, Bert Yates. Visitation and service were private. Burial was in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Lawrence W. Meinen, 88, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019. He was born January 9, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Lawrence and Lillian (Drost) Meinen. Prior to his retirement, Lawrence was an operations manager for Precise Technology, Inc., North Versailles and a veteran of the US Army having served in Germany during the Korean War Era. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, served on the Mon/Yough Trail Council and enjoyed rails-to-trails bicycling, fishing, model trains and boating. He was dedicated to friends and family, always eager to lend a hand, emotional support or share a good time. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Zimmerman Meinen. He is survived by his son, Larry Meinen and his wife, Barbara, grandchildren Abby and Matt; daughter, Laureen Houston, grandchildren Elizabeth and Caroline; brother, Ronald (JoAnn) Meinen. Friends will be received on Friday from 4 to 8 pm at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 9 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. Interment in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park. She was born January 9, 1926 in Jeannette, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sally Williams Gabriel and wife of the late John J. O’Keefe. Judie was a 1948 graduate of Duquesne University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Psychology. She was the social chairman for her sorority Sigma Lambda PHI and was a greeter for St. Barnabas. She and her husband John were avid ballroom dancers and achieved the status of king and queen of the ball. She was an excellent seamstress and made her own ball gowns. She touched the lives of everyone she met.

Daniel R. Gribble, age 79, of McKeesport passed away on March 18, 2019 at UPMC Hospital McKeesport. Born on February 17, 1940, he was the son of the late Goldie (Norris) Urbanski and Daniel Wallace Gribble. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Mary (Trail) Norris, and his two half-brothers Leonard and William Earl Urbanski.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann (Guski) and three sons and their wives, Daniel and Dena, Richard and Trina, and Brian and Mailyn.

Milda Jean (Lux) Fedorka, of Greensburg, formerly of Greenock, died March 16, 2019, at Redstone Highlands in Greensburg, Pa. She celebrated her 99th birthday this past December 26, 2018. Lovingly known as “Mimi” by many, she is preceded in death by her late husband, George “Poppop” Fedorka, who died November 7, 1997, and by her parents, the late John “Honus” Lux and Jennie (Nabors) Lux. Milda was a member of McKeesport High School class of 1937 and sang in the State Championship acapella choir. She studied commercial art and later taught at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. She then worked for many years as an artist for the G.C. Murphy Company in McKeesport, Pa. and retired from there as head of the art department.

Chester F. "Chet" Ornowski, 93, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died March 14, 2019 at home surrounded by family. He was born January 16, 1926 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Joseph and Barbara (Kurkowski) Ornowski. He was preceded by the love of his life, the late Patricia (Shank) Ornowski, who passed away January 31, 2014. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, Where he served as grade four technician with the 76th Infantry Division. In 1944, he was drafted into WWII, where he was a part of the Normandy Invasion. For his service he received 2 Purple Heart Medals for combat, The Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Service Medal, EAME Theatre Service Medal with three bronze stars, and The WWII Victory Medal. He retired from US Steel in 1983 after 35 years of service where he worked as a lab technician.
