Nancy A. Kansa, age 89, of Lincoln Borough, died July 18, 2023, at the Celebration Villa of South Hills. Born December 18, 1933, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Penner) Weinberg and the loving wife of John Kansa for 55 years.
Nancy was a longtime member and Christian Mother of Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Eugene Church. Nancy enjoyed crafting, crossword puzzles, word searches, and shopping. She had a love for cats and cared for many over the years.

Patricia Ann Slinskey, age 86, of Dravosburg, died on Friday, July 14, 2023. She was born in Leetsdale, PA on April 9, 1937 and grew up in Ambridge, PA. She is the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary Komas O’Connor. After graduating from Ambridge High School with National Honors, she went to work for the A.M. Byers Company in Ambridge as an executive secretary. In 1958, she married our father John and changed careers to become a housewife. Mom was the sweetest, most loving, and devoted mother, grandma, and wife. Her adorable smile and unconditional kindness touched the hearts of everyone she met. Faith and family were her top priorities. Her delectable cooking and exquisite penmanship were just a few of her noteworthy talents. She took great pride in her Irish heritage. A devout catholic having said the rosary nightly, never swore or made a negative comment about anyone. A true saint. The world regrettably has lost its most generous and loving angel, but Heaven gained its superstar. We love and miss you mom and grandma!!!...”Here’s a Kiss”! Jesse James Ferencz, age 37, of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at UPMC Montefiore. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 16, 1986, he is the son of Lisa Marie Damianos (Damian Damianos) of West Mifflin and Robbie J. Ferencz of St. Petersburg, FL. He worked for UPMC Insurance and at the Teutonia Mannerchor Club (GBU) in Duquesne. He loved playing hockey for Central Pittsburgh and also played for West Mifflin High School and Penn State when he was a student. He also loved golfing. He was the fiancé of the late Jessica Ann Gretz, who died on December 15, 2022. Besides his parents and stepfather, he is survived by his son, Noah James Ferencz (age 6); sister, Jessica (Ryan) Cook of West Mifflin; grandmothers, Audrey (August) (late James “Jimbo”) Ferencz of Pittsburgh and Nancy Paige of McKeesport; uncles, Gregory (Judy) Ferencz of Pittsburgh and Kevin (Amanda) Ferencz of Statesville, NC; aunts, Shari (Ricky) Macerelli of Florida and Susan (Paul) Corcoran of Florida; and many cousins. John H. Bramhall, 57, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born February 16, 1966, a son of the late John H. Bramhall Sr. and Edith (Heacher) Bramhall Varatti. John worked as a general contractor laborer and was a graduate of Norwin Sr. High School. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his children, watching his children and grandchildren play sports and was an avid Steelers fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aaliyah; and future son-in-law, Eric Gall. George Calvin Weimer, 89, of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born June 17, 1934, in Friedens, PA and was the son of the late George Dewey and Ruth Elmira (Hay) Weimer. George was a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He served in the Coast Guard before going to work for numerous companies, most notably as a Senior Project Engineer for Rust International Corporation in Pittsburgh. He was a very faithful member of the First Lutheran Church, 615 Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh, where he served as Head Usher for many years, and as a member of the Property Committee and Congregational Council, and where he met his wife of 62 years, Beatrice. He was an excellent gardener and enjoyed his garden and the birds that frequent the yard at his home in Hampton Township. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. A meticulous worker and thinker, he had a keen interest in history and political events, loved great music, and collected regional matchbooks, American coins, and postage stamps from all around the world. His kindness and humor will be greatly missed by friends, neighbors, and beloved extended family.

Paula Comunale, a beautiful soul, of North Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the age of 60. Paula was the beloved daughter of Lawrence (Charlette) Comunale and the late Phyllis Comunale.
She was the loving sister of Sharon (late Daniel) White and the late Faye Comunale. In addition to her sister, Sharon, she is survived by stepsiblings Dennis (Ruth) Byers, Rene (Danny) Sampson, Robyn (Mike) Rodriguez and Larry (Lori) Comunale Jr. She is also survived by her special nephew, Joshua (Monica) White, grandnieces, Abby and Ally, numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, caregivers, and Stellar Support Services family.
Paula was full of life and lit up the room. She made her family better by being here on earth. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Paula was not limited due to her disabilities. She enjoyed crafting and playing video games. She was enjoying Kennywood the day before she passed. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Helen (Kuzma) Piggford, age 91 of Elizabeth Twp., died peacefully at Jefferson Hospital on Monday, July 17, 2023. She passed away encompassed by the love of friends and family and cared for by her daughter Teresa Mae Buchina of Elizabeth Township and her sons James Wayne Piggford III of Simpsonville, SC, and George Alan Piggford, C.S.C., of North Easton, MA. Helen was born at home on Blaine Hill in Elizabeth Township on April 2nd, 1932, to John Kuzma and Theresa (Czizak), and as an infant she received Baptism, Chrismation, and Holy Communion at Ascension Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton.
The youngest of six children, Helen attended Wylie School and Elizabeth High School, where she graduated with academic distinction. On July 3, 1951, she married (James) Wayne Piggford, Jr., her life-long love. She traveled with him to his U.S. Navy postings in Key West, FL, and New London, CT, before they settled back on Blaine Hill in 1960. Helen was a tireless worker and made a career at the River Division of Consol Energy, where she retired as a financial analyst after more than twenty-five years. Higher education was not available to her in her younger days, so she was especially pleased to earn an associate degree from Penn State Greater Allegheny.
Helen’s 91-year life was characterized by hard work, commitment to her family and community, and a powerful Catholic faith. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 7632. She was a CCD teacher and was active for many years in Christian Mothers at St. Michael parish, now Sts. Joachim and Anne. Helen enjoyed crocheting afghans for special occasions, she cooked amazing cabbage rolls, she kept in touch with many people by phone, and she had a particular enthusiasm for keeping her checkbook balanced. Helen was devoted to her husband Wayne. She deeply loved her children Teresa, wife of Steven Buchina; Wayne III, husband of Laura; and George, a Roman Catholic priest in the Congregation of Holy Cross. She adored both of her grandsons, who are U.S. Marines: 2ndLt James Connor, husband of TJ, and LCpl Alexander Ryan. Helen is survived by her brother Peter Kuzma of Republic, Michigan, her brother-in-law James Chomas of Elizabeth Township, and her sister-in-law Helen Louise Wivagg of Forward Township.

Patricia “Pat” Dancak Funk, 83, of White Oak, formerly of West Mifflin, died at home, Saturday, July 15, 2023, surrounded by the love of her children. A 1958 graduate of Duquesne High School, she was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, St Joseph Church, and a past president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. As a member and past president of the YWCA Garden Club of McKeesport, she was instrumental in the creation and care of the award-winning Butterfly Garden at U.S. Steel’s Clairton Works, served as a Director for District VII of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Joyful Bloomers and other local garden clubs. An accomplished floral designer, Pat was generous with her talents and received awards for her creations. She was also a past president of the GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne.
