Clifford B. Sloane, age 80 of White Oak, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Briarcliff Pavilion in North Huntingdon. Born March 20, 1936 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late William and Gertrude (Crookham) Sloane. Clifford honorably served our country in the US Army. Following his military service, he continued his career working for Champion Tool and Die as a shipping and receiving clerk and also as an accounting clerk, having retired after 40 dedicated years. Upon his retirement, Clifford worked tirelessly for several volunteer organizations, including 17 years of offering his services with Meals on Wheels. In his free time, he enjoyed taking walks in White Oak Park, visiting the Casinos and playing the lottery. He found great joy in spending time outdoors working and fishing, but he especially loved tending to his flower bed. Clifford is survived by his brother, Harry R. (Melva) Sloane of Port Richey, FL; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gertrude (Robert) Landkrohn of Butler and Mildred (Frank) Hurley of White Oak; and six brothers, Herbert (Alice) Sloane of West Newton, PA, William (Marge) Sloane of Claysville, PA, Thomas (Helen) Sloane of Claysville, PA, Glenn (Ruth) Sloane of Washington, PA, Howard (Irene) Sloane of North Versailles and George (Peg) Sloane of McKeesport. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday, June 20, 2016 from 2-8 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at Mt. Joanna was an administrative assistant for 34 years at Westinghouse Electric, Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin. She was a member of St. Patrick Church. Dancing was one of Joanna’s favorite pastimes. Her first date with, Bernard “Bernie”, her husband of 61 years, was to a local dance.

Helen M. Snyder, age 80, of New Lenox, IL, formerly of McKeesport, died June 11, 2016. Born September 4, 1935, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Glowaty) Cielieska and the wife of the late Thomas Snyder.
Helen was retired from McKeesport Hospital, where she worked in various capacities in maternity, mail room and cafeteria. She was a former member of St. Mark Parish and attended St. Jude Parish, in New Lenox. She enjoyed being involved in the Port Vue Borough and volunteering for Election Day. Helen was also a Pittsburgh sports fan, a member of the Penguins Booster Club and was best known for her delicious stuffed cabbage and chicken noodle soup.

Casimira "Hazel" Hokaj, age 97 of Canonsburg, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at TownView Health Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg. Born September 3, 1918 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Theophil and Josephine (Szczepanski) Lenda, and beloved wife of the late Joseph L. Hokaj. Hazel was a long-time member of Corpus Christi Parish, formerly St. Mary Czestochowa Parish, former member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers & Ladies Guild, as well as a member of the Polish Falcons of America. She loved to play Bingo with her friends, and always looked forward to her annual trips to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, especially their outings to the Olive Garden. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, William Carr, Rebecca Federoff, Edwin Lenda, Richard Lenda, Thomas Hokaj, Leo Hokaj and Henry Hokaj; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Julia Fischer and Frances Cook; and brothers, Theophil, John, Chester and Edwin Lenda. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home Crematory on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 12 Noon until time of Blessing Service 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
