William C. Lindstrom, age 100, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at home. He was a retired welder for Ceco Steel in West Mifflin and a former employee of the Elizabeth Twp. Sanitary Authority. He was a member of the Westmoreland County Farm Bureau. Born August 2, 1923 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late Esther Lindstrom. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet N. (Elkin) Lindstrom; daughters, Karen A. Lindstrom of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Janet M. Lindstrom of McMurray; grandsons, Kirk R. Bummer and Robert A. Johnny Sim Burkett, 50 of Clairton formerly of McKees Rocks, passed away on Saturday February 3rd, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. He was born in McKeesport on October 25th, 1973. He was raised by his late grandmother Sara C Robertson. Donna L. Shultz, 87, of Elizabeth, passed away Thursday morning, February 1, 2024 at the home of her nephew.
She was born November 1, 1936 in Charleroi, a daughter of the late John and Ella McCracken Shultz.
A 1955 graduate of Charleroi High School, Ms. Shultz received her bachelor of education from California University of Pennsylvania and a master’s of education from West Virginia University.
She retired from the Elizabeth Forward School District, where she was the Director of Elementary Education.
She was a member of the Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association, served as the association’s corresponding secretary and in 2001 received the Educator Recognition Award.

Virginia G. (Jean) Kudla, of Glassport, passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024 at the age of 92, at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Genevieve Wawrzeniak; loving and devoted wife of the late Henry (Hank) Kudla for 55 years. Dearly beloved mother of Mary Jean (Duane) Molinaro, Henry (Cathy) Kudla, Mark (Lori) Kudla, Ruth (Pete) Chiappa and Joe (Regina) Kudla. Loving and proud grandmother of Aaron (Shelly), Joey (Lauren) and Michael Molinaro, Tom, Dan and Kristen Kudla, Chris and Matt (fiance Rachel Bartlett) Chiappa and Joseph II and John Kudla. Her great granddaughter Olivia and great grandson Ethan Molinaro, gave her great joy and enjoyment in her last years. She also had many nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by brothers Ray (Irene) and Arthur (Ethel) Wawrzeniak, and sister Evelyn (Stan) Wandel; sisters-in-law Sister Edward Kudla, Evelyn (John) Lizik, and Theresa (Edward) Tyszkiewicz; brothers-in-law John (Helen), Frank (Dorothy), Stan (Mary), Edward (Gina), Ted (Marcie) and Jake Kudla. She was born on April 21, 1931 in Glassport. A graduate of Holy Cross Elementary School and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School, she received a BS in Biology/Chemistry from Duquesne University. While Jean was working as a chemist for the Bureau of Mines, she and Hank married and started their family. After working towards, and graduating with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, she began her career teaching at Holy Cross Elementary School in Glassport, which later became Glassport Catholic Elementary School, and then she taught at Serra Catholic High School in McKeesport. Later, at St. Joseph Regional School in Port Vue, where she taught upper elementary sciences, Jean was always looking for new ways to get students involved and excited about science. That included science projects for both local and regional science fairs. In 1994, her students' science projects (Junior Division) had so many winning entries that she won an award for her students winning the most awards! She also won the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Award, and the Alcoa Fund Award. In 1995, Jean won the Society of Analytical Chemists Award. She won the Golden Apple Award in its first year, given to top teachers in the Pittsburgh diocese. She was also nominated by past students and chosen to be included with the best teachers in America in the "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" publication, 1998 Edition. Jean was very devout in her faith, and it showed by her actions and deeds. She had served as a lector and CCD teacher at Holy Cross Church, and after they merged with St. Cecilla's to become Queen of the Rosary Parish, she became a member of their Choir for many years. She was also active in Christian Mothers, Ladies of Charity, and the Rosary Society, where she had been on the Board and past president. Jean was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved being with her family, watching her grandchildren grow up, and being a part of their lives. Her kindness, generosity, and life was a blessing to us all. We would like to thank the staff at Grandview Estates for their care and kindheartedness. We are especially greatful to Commonwealth Hospice aide Christy and nurse Nicole for their outstanding attention, love and compassion given to Jean. Mildred "Mili" Messina, 90, of Versailles, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, Friday, February 2, 2024. She was born August 17, 1933 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late George and Sinnie (Kramer) Forney. She was the wife of the late Carl "Carlo" J. Messina who passed away November 28, 2013. Mili attended McKeesport School of Nursing class of 1954 and worked as a Registered Nurse for 45 years at McKeesport Hospital, later UPMC McKeesport. She was an avid shopper and "high roller" at Macy's. She was a kind and beautiful person inside and out. She is survived by her daughter, Tracey (Terry) Kotouch of Versailles, son, Gregg (Lesley) Messina of Elizabeth Twp, grandchildren, Her little girl Madison, Ryan, Colton, and Brandon (Amber); great-grandchildren, Roman and Brooklyn Kotouch; brother, James (the late Beverly) Forney of Deltona, FL; nieces, Dawn, Debbie and Laurie; and nephew, Jimmy. Patrick J. Evans, age 71 of North Huntingdon and formerly of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in
UPMC Shadyside Hospital. Born March 27, 1952 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Edward E. and Virginia (Calvert) Evans. After graduating from California University of Pennsylvania, Patrick was a successful businessman working in sales for Consolidated Graphics Communications for 45 years and was a co-founder of Mount Vernon Healthcare assisted living facilities in Elizabeth Township and South Park. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in North Huntingdon.
For Pat, life was a celebration and family meant everything to him. He loved to travel with his family (especially to Hilton Head and Disney World), to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and performances, and to dance with his truly beloved late wife of 46 years, Barbara K. (Kish) Evans, who he now joins.
In his spare time, he also enjoyed running.
Patrick will be remembered as a man who loved to laugh and have a good time. He always made sure that everyone was taken care of and he would do anything for anyone (but especially for his family). He never missed a chance to tell you that he loved you. Chuck G. Demorest, Sr. age 63 of Westmoreland City died February 1, 2024 at his home. He was born April 23, 1960 in Jeannette, a son of the late Wilbert J. Demorest, Sr. and Anna Louise Pollard. He was a graduate of Penn Trafford High School. Prior to his retirement, was employed as a welder for Holtec in Turtle Creek. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, enjoyed going to the casino, and was a huge wrestling fan. Timothy Edward Quinlan, age 78 of North Huntingdon, PA, died January 31, 2024 at UPMC East surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 29, 1946 to the late Albert H. and Millicent M. (Sieburg) Quinlan of Pine Township. He graduated from Richland High School class of 1963 and earned his bachelor's degree from Indiana University of PA before completing graduate work through the US Steel/Case Western Reserve University Business Program. A United States Army veteran, Captain Quinlan served with the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam earning the Bronze Star. Prior to retirement in 2004, he was employed as a Production and Continuous Improvement Supervisor, Safety Engineer, and Accounting Manager for US Steel throughout the Mon Valley for over 30 years where he volunteered as a mentor with Junior Achievement. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Daria Riesberg. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dr. Audrey (Manzlak) Quinlan; a daughter Tara (Bill) Willenbrock of VA; a son, Daniel (Deanna) Quinlan of Cranberry; three grandsons, Matthew and Ryan Quinlan and Owen Willenbrock; a brother, Michael (Lynn) Quinlan of SC, and two nephews, Nathan M. and Timothy R. Quinlan. An avid sports fan, he was a proud season-ticket holder of the Steelers and was honored in 2021 to be invited to participate in the on-field pregame Terrible Towel activities. He also enjoyed surf fishing in Rodanthe and Nags Head on the Outer Banks of NC. As requested, there will be no visitation.
