By James W. Shirley Funeral Home Inc. | Posted in: James W. Shirley Funeral Home

Marlene Joyce "MJ" Shufran Stabile, 73, of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at home from end-stage COPD and emphysema with her daughter, Dorey, and her Hospice Team of Treasure Bertani and Karen Onder, by her side, holding her hands. She was born April 4, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, a daughter of the late Stephen and Wilda G. (McGonigal) Shufran. Marlene was told as a teenager that she wouldn't live past the age of 25, so she lived her life being thankful for every new day she was graced with. She was blessed with a husband who was her true love, and with two children she was told she would never be able to have, who she dedicated her life to after becoming a widow at 34. Marlene proudly earned degrees from Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh, she was a Financial Officer for WQED, Adtranz, and Direct Advantage Marketing, and after early retirement, she was a comforting caregiver to her mother, friends, and others who were entrusted with her care, which was the most rewarding job besides being a loving mother to her two children. Marlene always read her daily devotions, was an avid reader in general, and found enjoyable peace tending to her flowers and yard until she no longer could do so. She lived her life to the very best she could and by the Golden Rule to treat others the way you want to be treated. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rosario Stabile, and son, R. Vincent Stabile. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Dorey Stabile, her very special, Simon Alexander; her so-loved granddaughter, Ava Stabile, and her brother Timothy Shufran. There will be no visitation. Family and friends will gather for a Celebration of Life on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Moments Event Hall, 231 Jennie Drive, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.

By Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home | Posted in: Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home

Jeanine A. Steimer, 71, of White Oak and Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio, died Sunday, May 28, 2023, at home in White Oak. She was a 1970 graduate of McKeesport Area High School and a member of its Reunion Committee. Jeanine began working at Mary’s Kitchen, at the lake, as a waitress, followed by assistant manager at Two Brothers Boutique at Eastland, then Lerner’s where she retired as a manager.

Geneva-on-the-Lake was Jeanine’s home as a young adult and lifelong friends were made there. This led to the lake and a cottage at Allen Court becoming her home away from home since 2012. Her aunts, uncles and cousins looked forward to vacations there and spending time with her at the cottage. She relished the role of “house mother” and everyone was welcome for coffee and cocktails, and talks on the porch. Family memories and stories were plentiful and laughter could always be heard long into the evening.

Born March 19, 1952, in Geneva, Ohio, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jean and Joan Townsend Steimer. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Janet (Fran) Spang of White Oak; brothers, Jim (Martha) Steimer of Bethel Park, and John (the late Rachele) Steimer of Saybrook, Ohio; nieces, Jessica (Brian) Sweeney, Sarah Steimer, Hannah Steimer, Paige Spang and Maura Spang; great nephews, Patrick and Matthew Sweeney; cousins; many friends and a very tight knit circle of girlfriends.

Paige and Maura were especially fortunate to have Aunt Jeanine. They loved being a part of each other’s lives and always felt lucky to have each other. Memories of vacations and funny moments will always be cherished.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. SCHLEIFER, SUPERVISOR, WILLIAM BRIAN SCHLEIFER, FUNERAL DIRECTOR. Parting Prayers will take place at the Funeral Home, at 10:15 a.m., on Thursday, June 1, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in St. Angela Merici Church of Mary, Mother of God Parish, in White Oak, with Fr. Brianna Sage Shaffer was only with us for 20 years, but she was loved by all who knew her. She passed away on April 30, 2023, tragically. Brianna graduated from Norwin High School and resided in McKeesport. Generous, kind, and passionate, especially about animal rescue, she planned to work in Veterinary Care. Although she was taken from us without fulfilling her dreams of love and marriage with Max Giger, who was her future, she will be forever in our hearts. Brianna was an avid snowboarder, loved dirt biking, and going fishing with her dad. She played various sports, enjoyed going on adventures to cross things off her "bucket list," and dreamed of having a black Infiniti car one day. Brianna was strong and fearless, attacked everything with a purpose, and always lived her life to the fullest.
Brianna leaves behind her mom and dad, Kim and Jim Shaffer; grandmothers, Karin Widel and Donna Pertinaci; close cousins, Sydney and Scott, along with many other family members and friends; and her beloved pets, Oakley, Snoop, Geffory, and JJ.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, May 8, 2023, from noon until 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Animal Rescue at https://humaneanimalrescue.org/donate.
